A subtle tingle of pleasure coursed up Shondra’s spine. Racked by the earlier orgasms that was now slowly fading into its hedonistic oblivion, Shondra opened her eyes to look at Pullum. She was greeted with the view of the artist’s head resting on her stomach. Pullum’s scalp was like a planet, rising and falling to Shondra’s breathing. Though she could not see Pullum’s eyes, Shondra was relieved. It gave her the chance to gather her wits and courage about her. Finding herself under Pullum’s discerning gaze often left her tongue-tied.
“Have you thoughts about what I said the other day?” Shondra asked. She did not have to repeat the sentence. Her confession of love had not been reciprocated by the artist, who had looked away quietly when Shondra had professed those three important words.
“I have,” Pullum’s voice came at a slight muffle near Shondra’s abdomen. She lifted her head, so that their eyes met.
In the darkness of the studio, the subtle glitter in Pullum’s eyes remained iridescent, absorbing the rather pernicious rays of the city nightlife. There was a small furrow of worry in her face.
“If you don’t love me…,” Shondra began, fearing the worst.
